Educational Programs

The Torrington Historical Society provides educational programs for schools,
civic groups and the general public 

We offer the following stock of power point programs in formats suitable for
schools and/or adult groups.

Each program can be presented in 45 minutes to one hour.

- Scenic Views: An 1894 Lantern Slide Show of Torrington and its Surroundings by John N. Brooks
   Glass plate photographs by one of Torrington’s turn-of-the-century amateur photographers. 
   Presented with a reading of his original script.   

- Waterpower: The Naugatuck River in Torrington  
  
The history of Torrington’s greatest natural resource. 

- Torrington History for the Second Grade 
   This curriculum-based program is available at the museum or in the classroom.
   Program includes two components: a power-point presentation and artifact show and tell.
   The components are available separately or together. 
 
 
Customized educational programs are available by special request and as time allows.
